What It Means in a Renovation
Aging in place means building so a home stays safe and usable as mobility changes — a step-free entry, wider passages, a curbless walk-in shower, solid blocking behind the walls for grab bars down the road, lever handles, better lighting, and ideally a full bathroom and bedroom on the main floor.
A lot of it is invisible once it's done. It's also cheap to build in during work you're already doing, and expensive to retrofit later.
Build It In Now, Not Later
The cheapest time to add blocking for a grab bar, widen a doorway, or set a curbless shower is during a renovation that's already opening up the walls. If it's on your mind at all, we'll flag the low-cost moves now that save a major project later — even if you don't need them yet.
